CountsFree is a free collection of everyday tools. There’s nothing to download and no account to create. You pick a tool, type your values and the answer appears as you type. This guide shows what each tool does and how to get the most out of it.
Before you start
- Everything is free. There are no paid plans and no limits on use.
- Your input stays private. The tools run in your browser, so the text and numbers you enter aren’t uploaded to our servers.
- Find a tool quickly. Use the search box at the top of the page, or browse by category: Text Tools, Calculators and Converters.
Text tools
Word Counter
Type or paste your text. You’ll see the number of words, characters, characters without spaces and an estimated reading time, which assumes 200 words per minute. It’s useful for essays, social posts and articles with a word limit. The Clear button empties the box, and Copy copies your text.
Character Counter
Check the exact number of characters, with or without spaces. This is handy for bios, SMS messages and meta descriptions.
Case Converter
Paste your text and choose UPPERCASE, lowercase or Title Case. It saves retyping a heading that was typed in the wrong case.
Remove Extra Spaces
Paste text with double spaces or stray gaps and click the button to tidy it up. It’s useful for text copied from PDFs or emails.
Calculators
Percentage Calculator
Enter a percentage and a number to find that percentage of it. For example, 20% of 500 is 100.
Discount Calculator
Enter the original price and the discount percentage to see the final price and how much you save. A 15% discount on 1,000 gives a final price of 850 and a saving of 150.
BMI Calculator
Enter your weight in kilograms and your height in centimetres. For example, 70 kg and 175 cm gives a BMI of 22.86, which is in the healthy range. BMI is a general screening measure for adults, not a diagnosis, so speak to a healthcare professional about your health.
Loan Calculator
Enter the loan amount, the yearly interest rate and the term in years to estimate your monthly payment. A loan of 5,00,000 at 9% over 5 years comes to about 10,379 a month. The estimate assumes a fixed rate and equal payments, and doesn’t include fees, so check the exact figure with your lender.
Converters
Length Converter
Convert between meters, kilometers, centimeters, millimeters, feet, inches and miles.
Weight Converter
Switch between kilograms, grams, pounds and ounces.
Temperature Converter
Convert between Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin. For example, 0°C is 32°F.
Time Converter
Convert seconds, minutes, hours and days.
In every converter, enter the value, choose the units in the From and To boxes, and use the swap button to reverse them.
